Wind Farm Impact Assessment Home Page

A community guide to wind farm assessments in NSW

This is a guide for communities who wish to contribute to the assessment of a State significant wind farm proposal in NSW.

The Department of Planning (the Department) promotes its Wind Energy Guidelines and the 2016 Framework as providing greater transparency, but the fact remains that the process favours the developer. Impacted communities need to get involved and speak out for their views to make a difference.

The current assessment process is outlined below. Each of the assessment steps are described from a community perspective including what you can do to get the best outcome. Click on any of the 6 steps for a full description.
